App Store keyword research
Type a keyword. Get that keyword and the terms around it in one table, for any of 49 App Store storefronts, with Apple's own demand figure where Apple publishes one.

What the tool does
You enter one keyword and choose a storefront. ASOsight returns that keyword plus the terms around it — App Store autocomplete completions, terms the apps on that result page also rank for, and close textual variants — as a single sortable table.
Each row carries three things: how much demand the term has, how hard it looks to rank for, and which apps currently occupy the top of that result page. That is the whole surface. There is no report to wait for and no queue.
The catalogue behind it holds 62,543 apps from 43,188 developers across 26 App Store categories.
Where the demand number comes from
Apple publishes a search popularity score for head terms through the Apple Search Ads insights API, per storefront. ASOsight holds 105,827 of those published values across 15 storefronts and shows them unchanged. A 62 is Apple's 62.
Apple does not publish a figure for every term — the dataset is the head, not the tail. When a term has no published value, the row shows an ordinal derived from where that term appears in App Store autocomplete, on a scale deliberately capped below the lowest measured Apple value so the two can never be confused for one another.
When neither signal was collected, the cell shows a dash. It does not show a zero. Absence of data and absence of demand are different facts, and a tool that renders them identically is lying by rounding.
Difficulty, and what it is inferred from
Difficulty is labelled Inferred, because it is. It is computed from the result page we observed: how much rating volume the incumbent apps carry, how many of them put the exact term in their title, and how old they are. Each score shows the drivers behind it.
Ranking data comes from result pages ASOsight fetched and stored: 253,134 rank observations over 4,204 distinct terms. A rank is Observed — it is a position we saw on a page, on a date, in a storefront.
What you need to use it
An email address. ASOsight reads public App Store data and Apple's published advertising datasets, so it works on apps you do not own and have no relationship with — competitors, apps in a category you are considering, apps you found yesterday.
App Store Connect is optional and unnecessary for everything on this page. Connecting it later adds your own download and impression figures; it does not unlock keyword research.
The free plan runs 10 keyword lookups a day against data ASOsight already holds. Paid plans remove the daily limit and let a lookup fetch a fresh result page from the App Store.
Questions people ask
What is App Store keyword research?
App Store keyword research is the process of finding the search terms people type into the App Store, measuring how much demand each term carries, and judging how hard it would be to rank for. It differs from web SEO keyword research because the App Store ranks apps, not pages, and because Apple publishes its own popularity scores for head terms.
Where does ASOsight get App Store keyword data?
Demand figures come from Apple's Search Ads insights API, which publishes a search popularity score per storefront for head terms; ASOsight holds 105,827 of those values across 15 storefronts and displays them without modification. Related terms come from App Store autocomplete and from the result pages ASOsight has observed. Rankings come from App Store search result pages that ASOsight fetched and stored.
Do I need an Apple developer account to use it?
No. Every figure on the keyword research screen comes from public App Store data and Apple's published advertising datasets. You can research any app in the catalogue, including ones you have no connection to. App Store Connect is optional and adds only your own analytics.
How many App Store storefronts does ASOsight cover?
49 storefronts are selectable for keyword research. Apple publishes search popularity for 15 of them; in the rest, demand is shown from autocomplete position instead, and labelled as such.
How often is the keyword data updated?
Apple's published popularity dataset is collected on a six-hour cycle. Ranking positions for tracked keywords are re-observed daily, and head-term result pages are re-observed weekly. Apple publishes popularity per period, not per minute, so a faster cycle would return the same numbers.
What does keyword difficulty mean here?
Difficulty is an inferred score from 0 to 100 describing how entrenched the apps currently ranking for a term are. It is derived from their rating volume, whether they carry the exact term in their title, and how long they have been on the store. It is not published by Apple, and ASOsight labels it Inferred everywhere it appears.
Can I track keyword rankings over time?
Yes, on paid plans. You claim an app you own, add keyword and storefront pairs, and ASOsight re-observes those positions daily and shows the seven-day change. Starter covers 500 keyword-market pairs and Growth covers 1,500.
What does it cost?
The free plan includes 10 keyword lookups a day. Starter is $14.99 a month and removes the daily limit. Growth is $34.99 a month and adds more tracked keywords, more connected apps and team seats. Pricing is listed in full on the pricing page.
