Growth OS: your app’s competitive picture

Add an app you own and get one page: where you rank with every app above you named, the searches your competitors rank on that you don’t, estimates with a downloads percentile, and next actions built only from those rows.

What the page shows

Four blocks, in order. First, where you rank: each App Store result page you appear on, with your position and every app above you, named — the same observed page, the same day, never a mix of observations. Terms where you hold #1 collapse into one win strip so your real contests lead.

Second, the searches your competitors rank on that you don’t — shown only when at least two of them rank there, so a single co-ranking coincidence never becomes advice. Third, estimated downloads and revenue as ranges, with a downloads percentile against apps in the same category and storefront. Fourth, a short listing checklist, collapsed.

Everything is computed from pages ASOsight actually observed — 254,116 rank observations over 4,228 distinct terms — and every number carries its source label: a rank is Observed, an estimate is Estimated.

Next actions that cite the page

The recommendations block is built only from rows the page renders. It names the competitors beating you in two places at once, the highest-consensus search you are absent from with the best rank held there, and the apps immediately above you — with the exact positions, so you can check every claim against the blocks above it.

There are no invented urgency scores and no confidence percentages. Items can be dismissed, and a dismissal survives every recompute.

What happens when you add an app

Claiming seeds keyword coverage from your app’s name, observes the live result pages for those searches, and builds your competitor set from ranking overlap. The page says what it is fetching while this runs and updates itself when it finishes.

Measured on production: the median time from adding an app to its first ranked page appearing was 90 seconds. Competitor tracking fills automatically from the same data — the top apps sharing your result pages — and anything you remove stays removed.

Questions people ask

Does Growth OS need App Store Connect?

No. Nothing on the page requires connecting anything: ranks come from observed App Store result pages, estimates from public data, and the competitor set from ranking overlap. You add an app by claiming it from the public catalogue with an email account and nothing else.

How long after adding an app does the page fill?

Setup runs in the background and the page reports it live. Measured on production claims, the median time to the first ranked-page row was 90 seconds, and the competitive picture — gap list and competitor set — was in place within about two minutes. Apps that already appear on observed pages show their leaderboard immediately.

What if my app ranks nowhere yet?

The page still has content. It shows the searches seeded from your app’s name with the apps that DO rank on each — who owns the page you are not on yet — plus your estimates and the listing checklist. As observed pages start including your app, the leaderboard appears on its own.

Where does the competitor set come from?

From ranking overlap: the apps that appear on the same observed result pages as yours, ranked by how many searches they share with you. It is measured, not hand-picked — and you can add or remove competitors yourself at any time; removals are never re-added automatically.

What does the downloads percentile mean?

It places your app's estimated monthly downloads among apps of the same category in the same storefront — "higher than 86% of 132 Sports apps in VN", for example. It is computed only when the comparison group holds at least 100 apps, and it is a percentile of downloads, not revenue.

Which plan includes Growth OS?

Growth, at $34.99 a month or $299 a year, alongside 1,500 tracked keyword-market pairs and 10 connected apps. Claiming an app and rank tracking are available from Starter; the Growth OS page itself is the Growth plan’s surface.
